>> vandals caught on camera in burlington. the hate crime police say they pulled off on halloween. ed: inferno on the water. the boat up in flames. heather: puppies stolen. the kennel break-in. how you can help find them. mike: a few clouds tonight. when temperatures could hit 70. ed: nine months after a blizzard, a baby boom. the new arrivals, putting a silver lining on a wicked winter. heather: right now, security-camera video captures vandals about to strike, and tonight, this is being called a hate crime. good evening. s not the first time this mosque has been targeted. our reid lamberty is live in on the crime. reid? reid: graffiti was the crime years ago. the same crime was committed again.

this time, we got a good look at the suspects. the vandals probably figured the cover of darkness would camouflage their crime. instead, security cameras clearly exposed the car in which they arrived, and the masks they wore to conceal their faces. what we don' t see, is what happened next. >> this side, the backside, that site. reid: all sides, repeatedly spray-painted with "usa." the sign at the center' s front entrance, also tagged. the two men seen on camera, and a third in the car, wasted little time ruining the building' s recently painted facade. >> i am just concerned about the safety of the people. what would be the next? what would they do next, and how can we prevent it? reid: this same crime happened here two years ago, says center president munir gandevia. and this past summer, women and children were targets of racial slurs. his fear is, if the crime could escalate. >> 200 to 300 children come for sunday classes. their parents are concerned. they' re asking me

can you prevent it? reid: the islamic center has been here for two decades. he believes the crime does not reflect the community as a whole. >> people say this doesn' t represent general communities and those people' s feelings. reid: officials just want the islamophobia to start, saying that the people who worship here are law-abiding citizens. heather: breaking news, we have learned a high school football victory. he is at mass general tonight. the superintendent says he was night with a group of boys when someone attacked one of them.

just days ago, he had helped his friend and he was stabbed. he rushed 124 yards earlier in the day in everett' s win over st. john' s prep. ed: search crews are trying to confirm that wreckage found this weekend off the bahamas is the missing cargo ship el faro. navy crews are sending unmanned deep-water subs 15,000-feet down for a closer look. 33 crew members on that ship when it disappeared during hurricane joaquin, three with ties to massachusetts. rhondella richardson spoke to one of their families tonight. she' s live in the newsroom. rhondella: tonight, a brockton mother remembers her daughter as a ball of fire, and always up for an adventure. >> mariette was one strong woman, one tough cookie. rhondella: her daughter, mariette wright, grew up in assonet. she died a month ago today at age 51, onboard the sunken el faro.

>> it is very tough on me. i loved her more than life. vessel' s high-tech sonar may have located the missing cargo ship, little comfort. aut if investigators with an unmanned deep water sub get to the debris field and find the data recorder, wright' s family may get some of the answers they need. >> i wonder when she knew the ship was sinking. if she had tried to figure out some way to escape. or some way to save everybody on there. because that' s how she was. rhondella: there are tears every night for the middle daughter, who shipped out in her 20' s, but called home every month, always upbeat. >> i don' t know how to express my grief rationally. rhondella: wright' s last trip to the family' s brockton home was august. she never had the chance to call again.

warmer weather coming and the forecast. i will have a timeline on its arrival in a few minutes. ed: new at 11:00, a south boston elderly housing complex evacuated, after fire breaks out on the 4th floor. 2 people were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. a firefighter was also transported for a hand injury. investigators say careless disposal of smoking materials caused the fire. heather: flames shooting through the roof of a townhouse in danvers. these flames broke out on williams street, around 1:30 this morning. everyone inside got out, but sadly, two dogs could not be saved. two neighboring condo units were badly damaged. the cause is under investigation. on the cape, flames engulf a fishing boat docked in north falmouth. the 36-foot "good grief" was destroyed around 5:00 this morning. firefighters used foam to keep flames from spreading to other boats. no one was hurt, and investigators say the fire does not appear suspicious. ed: right now, new clues into a deadly plane crash in the egyptian desert. investigators are saying the

more than 200 were killed. isis is claiming responsibility, the debris field stretches over 5 miles. from huge chunks of the plane, to tiny pieces of metal, stray clothing scattered in between. >> why an airplane would just come apart in perfectly good weather, that' s a sobering question. ed: all 224 people on board, killed, including 17 children. s too soon to say what triggered the crash, but the plane clearly broke up at high altitude. the plane' s black boxes, including the flight data recorder, have already been recovered. >> the probability is, here, with an in-flight breakup, that something caused that, something on the order of a bomb, or an incendiary explosion of some sort in the airplane. ed: egypt says there was no distress call or sign of a mechanical problem before. but just after 20 minutes after takeoff, the metrojet plane began to quickly descend from 31,000 feet, then disappeared from radar. the co-pilot' s ex-wife told russian t.v. that her husband had repeatedly complained about technical issues with the 18-year-old airbus 321, including that fateful morning.

>> russian commercial aviation has about the worst safety record in the world. ed: militants in the sinai linked to isis quickly claimed responsibility, but intelligence officials say they do not have the weapons to shoot down a plane that high. in st. petersburg, where the plane was supposed to land, grief-stricken family members gathered at the airport. the rest of the nation went to church, lighting candles in memory of the victims. four major international airlines have announced they will not fly over the sinai desert until there' s more information about the cause of the crash. the investigation could take months. heather: grief counselors will be at medway high school as students deal with the death of a classmate. 17-year-old madeline lamson was killed in a single car crash late friday night. flowers now mark the scene of the tragedy, in the neighboring town of franklin. lamson was a senior at medway high, and played several sports. her car crashed into a tree and caught fire. police in north reading say a homeowner' s decision to leave out cough syrup samples for

judgement, but not criminal. police got reports last night about the syrup being left for kids trick-or-treating in the area of olde farm lane. they found the house, and after talking to the person there, determined they weren' t trying to hurt anyone. still, if parents know their kids were in that neighborhood last night, be sure to check their candy bags. ed: biologists at the new england aquarium say an 800-pound leatherback sea turtle was found floating off the coast of woods hole yesterday. in marine gear. experts examined the animal' s body today, and found abrasions on the animal' s neck and flipper. they say turtles often get caught in lines attached to buoys, moorings, and other lobster traps, and can' t get free. heather: three puppies stolen from a kennel in holliston have yet to be found, the owners hoping the public can help find them. the puppies were snatched during a break-in friday night. as our nneka faison tells us, the owners of the kennel think they know who could be responsible. >> this is the area where the puppies were in. nneka: three puppies, a female yellow lab, and both a male and

pick-a-pup kennel in holiston. >> it' s just something you don' t think about because it hasn' t happened before. nneka: barry charton is the kennel owner. he says between 9:30 and 10:00 friday night, the alarm went off. when he arrived, the back door was ajar, but nothing looked out of place. police secured the area, then left. >> it wasn' t until the next morning, when my manager found that 3 puppies were missing. nneka: earlier that day, 3 people came in, asking specifically about those three dogs. as you can imagine, those types of questions come up a lot at the kennel, and the employees thought nothing of it. >> there was nothing unusual about them at the time, so we didn' t think any of it. but it' s certainly possible those were the people involved. nneka: people purchasing puppies this weekend were upset about the crime. >> i don' t know why or how, i just hope they find them, you know? nneka: charton says the kennel will lose some money, but that' s not what he' s worried about. >> the most important thing at

school a pretty tough day at school tomorrow. when of the school' s football players was stabbed overnight hours after helping lead the team to victory. the stabbing did not take place at the high school. he is number nine in this video of saturday' s game. he rushed for 124 yards in the game. the superintendent says he was walking home from a party last night with a group of boys, and someone attacked one of them. he stepped in to help his friend and was stabbed. he is at the hospital, no word on his condition. heather: fred thompson, former us senator who was also a well-known film and tv actor, has died. thompson became well-known for his role on "law & order," before he was elected to the u.s. senate from tennessee. he briefly ran for president in 2008. fred thompson was 73 years old. in a statement, his family says he died after a battle with lymphoma. ed: classes are on at winston

salem state university tomorrow, deadly shooting on campus. several hundred students gathered for a vigil in the rain tonight, to remember 19-year-old anthony white. the sophomore was gunned down early this morning, in a parking lot on the north carolina campus. a second student was wounded. the gunman. students were told to avoid campus for most of today and area. scene on the streets of colorado springs, colorado, where a gunman shot and killed three people before he was killed by police. witnesses say the suspect was walking calmly down the street saturday morning, when he suddenly started firing a rifle at random people. >> this kid was coming around the corner on the bike, and he lifted up his rifle and shot him. ask it was pretty loud. i heard him right off the bat. ed: 2 women sitting on a porch were also shot and killed. police are trying to determine a motive. heather: new at 11:00, blizzards and babies. 9 months ago, the bay state was

buried in snow. now, early indications of a mini baby boom. lately, some local ambulance companies have seen an uptick in a certain type of emergency call. our kelley tuthill has the story. >> it was just like that. it was just like that kelley: maggie bourassa wasn' t expecting her son to arrive early. she had to be induced well after her due date for 2-year-old maeve. but on wednesday, dad had to call 911 when he realized he wasn' t going to get his wife to the car, let alone the hospital. >> you were on the floor? >> they carried me out to the ambulance, and i think he was born within 5 minutes. kelley: a funny story for finn' s baby book >> in the back of the ambulance, luckily not in our house or in the car kelley: but brewster ambulance says this may be the kickoff to a blizzard baby boom >> we' ve had 5 in the last two weeks, and we' re expecting more. re gearing up. kelley: typically, the ambulance company would get 5 calls in a year for expectant moms unable to make it to the hospital.

we enjoy nice days coming up. the seven-day forecast, tomorrow, i showed you the clouds to the south. 62 the high. on tuesday, mild conditions across the area. the upper level winds are pumping mild air in. that pattern will hold. wednesday, we could see a seabreeze. we get the wind building up very light, and heating inland. this rising air has to be replaced with something off the ocean. that is why temperatures maybe cooler at the coast in the afternoon. on thursday, we are talking close to record heat. how high are the records? both of the records have' s -- has stood since 1994. we will get awful close. friday' s records are easier to break. the normal high as 56. we will see highs into the 70' s. these of the record highs. very close to having record highs despite the fact that we may see a few showers.

heather: i love this time of year. i like getting that extra hour of sleep in the morning. mike: november is one of those interesting months. we start out at 57 or a high, we end the month at 47. we picked up our first inch of snow. the sunset is getting earlier. i want you to contrast what the seven-day forecast shows. 70' s. record heat. don' t get used to it. eventually, reality will hit us and slap us in the pace towards next weekend as temperatures drop quickly.
